Il primo dei due è .post, promosso dalla Universal postal union svizzera. Lo scopo della sua introduzione consisterà nella creazione di un ponte di contatto tra la posta di tipo tradizionale e la messaggistica elettronica.

Dopo il via libera preliminare, i due nomi di dominio saranno coinvolti in una serie di altri passaggi che li condurranno all’approvazione definitiva e poi alla messa a disposizione degli utenti interessati per la registrazione dei propri indirizzi Web.
Oltre a .post e a .travel, Icann ha attualmente al vaglio le proposte relative ad altri sette suffissi, tra i quali spiccano .xxx, per la registrazione dei siti a carattere pornografico, .jobs per le realtà del Web legate al mondo del lavoro, mentre per i siti asiatici è in discussione .asia.
