Privacy, la tecnologia più invasiva è quella di Google
Uno studio statunitense conferma che Google è la compagnia online che colleziona più dati sulla nostra vita digitale
Mettete insieme Analytics, AdSense, Doubleclick e gli ultimi arrivati FriendConnect e Widgets. E vi troverete di fronte al Grande Fratello con la tecnologia più intrusiva del web: Google. Questo sostiene uno studio dell’Università di Berkeley secondo cui BigG è ormai la compagnia dominante nel mercato del tracking dei comportamenti degli utenti online.
Dal monitoraggio dei 100 domini più cliccati è infatti emerso che:
- su 81 era presente Analytics
- su 70 Doubleclick
- su 53 Adsense
Se si aggregano tutti i servizi di BigG che tracciano i comportamenti degli utenti (tra cui anche FriendConnect e Widgets), emerge che Google può tracciare i nostri comportamenti online ogni qual volta capitiamo su 47 dei top 50 siti e 92 dei top 100.
Molto più lontani i servizi della concorrenza, come Atlas (piattaforma pubblicitaria di Microsoft presente su 60 dei top 100 domini) e i tracker di altre due compagnie di statistiche online: Quantcast e Omniture (54%).
Sono inoltre stati utilizzati anche i dati di Ghostery, il plugin per Firefox che individua se su un dominio sono presenti web bug. Ed è risultato che, anache in questo caso, i servizi di Google guidano la top10 dei tracker.
“Non intendiamo sostenere che Google aggreghi tutte queste informazioni in un database centrale, sebbene abbiano la possibilità di fare ciò”, spiegano gli autori dello studio per sottolineare come al momento BigG non fa convergere le informazioni sulle nostre abitudini online in un unico profilo per la pubblicità mirata. Ma in futuro potrebbe benissimo accarezzare l’idea.
