Il Do Not Track di Mozilla è anche su Android
È Firefox il primo browser per cellulari su cui è possibile dire no alla pubblicità “personalizzata” sulle nostre abitudini online
L’impostazione per la privacy pubblicitaria mentre si naviga sul web è stata aggiunta anche a Firefox per dispositivi con il sistema operativo di Google.
Chi utilizza Firefox per Android in versione Beta, Aurora o Nightly deve andare nelle preferenze (spostando la pagina verso sinistra). Lì, nella sezione “Privacy & Security”, troverà una nuova preferneza che recita “Tell sites not to track me”.
Se il selettore viene spostato e mostra “Yes” anche Firefox for Mobile invierà ai siti che visitiamo un header HTTP chiamato “Do Not Track” (DNT). Questo header, idealmente, dovrebbe servire a segnalare che non desideriamo che le nostre scelte e abitudini vengano registrate e utilizzate per offerte pubblicitarie “personalizzate”.
La tecnologia non ha ancora il sostegno di nessuna legge ma oltre a Mozilla il DNT ha già l’appoggio di Microsoft e quello di Apple che lo ha inserito nel Safari del prossimo Mac OS X “Lion”.
Chi vuole controllare se il suo browser sta effettivamente inviando la richiesta di privacy può visitare il sito web dnt.mozilla.org creato da Mozilla.
Qui, oltre a informazioni sull’iniziativa, è presente un comodo banner con uno status che segnala se il navigatore ha attivato o meno l’header DNT.
